Our public outdoor listening session returns to Ebertplatz in 2022 for a special about the newly published book “Dilla Time” by US-based writer Dan Charnas. Hot off the press the astonishing and meticulously researched book depicts the life and music of Detroit-based producer James Dewitt Yancey aka JayDee.

“Equal parts biography, musicology, and cultural history, Dilla Time chronicles the life and legacy of J Dilla, a musical genius who transformed the sound of popular music for the twenty-first century by pioneering a new musical time-feel, an accomplishment on par with the achievements of Louis Armstrong and James Brown. Dilla, with only his drum machine, transformed the way traditional musicians play.”

dublab regulars C:Mone & Twit One will present a 2 hour mix of samples, tracks and remixes by J Dilla, garnished with a live reading of selected passages from the book by PB Louison. Free entry, all ages, Funktion One soundsystem.

Seit 2019 finden als Teil der Zwischennutzung Ebertplatz in den Sommermonaten regelmäßig Konzerte auf dem Ebertplatz statt. Während Acts und Genres wechseln, bleibt der Donnerstag Abend als Termin für die Ebertplatzkonzerte eine Konstante.
