Meakusma Festival – Service Announcement

Tako at dublab Sleepless Floor (Meakusma Festival 2019)

Dear listeners,
This weekend the Meakusma Festival in Belgium returns for the fifth time – albeit in an adapted version – and quite a few people got in touch over the last days to ask us why we are not involved anymore, so we feel compelled to answer.

Someone clever once said its best to finish on a high note, and that’s it. That weekend on the Heuboden last year was everything for us, an outstanding experience in terms of overall good vibe, quality of music and audience attentiveness level. Easily the best edition of the four we were fortunate to experience in Eupen. Sadly the conditions for the 2020 edition presented to us beginning of this year would not have allowed us to recreate a similar or even better situation, and it was with a heavy heart that we decided not to join this years festivities.

We’re incredibly happy and proud looking back at all the special moments that took place on the Sleepless Floor of the last four festival editions, and we would like to thank all guests, musicians, DJs, friends and helping hands for being there and being you, it’s been a pleasure. Last but not least, we would like to thank the Meakusma crew for making it all happen and inviting us in the first place. All the best for your future endeavours!

Outlook: In cooperation with the Meakusma Festival we will publish a series of podcasts over the course of the next months, thematically related to the bi-annual Meakusma magazine and produced in conjunction with the Goethe Institut Belgium, with support by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North-Rhine-Westphalia. More on that soon.

dublab promotes curiosity, experimentation, inclusivity, and connection.
