Calling In A Favour – Folding Time

Information

North Phiadelphia’s Camae Ayewa AKA Moor Mother is one of the most important multi-media artists working today, and we yet have to find anyone to contest this assessment.

As Moor Mother, she creates abrasive noise and poetry about the history of violence. She’s extensively collaborated with producers like DJ Haram (as 700 Bliss), Mental Jewelry, The Bug, and many more, and frequently tours with her free-jazz ensemble, Irreversible Entanglements.

Together with her partner Rasheeda Phillips, Camae runs Black Quantum Futurism, a Philadelphian collective that puts afrofuturist ideas into direct action.

In this episode, Julian and Camae talked about the new Moor Mother album, her upcoming theatre play “Circuit City”, fucking up classical music, and why she was rooting for Toronto in this year’s NBA Finals.
